Recently I learned that two of my granddaughters have been injured while in the care of the foster care provider. The oldest one has a black eye, alledegly due to being hit by a softball. That is pure speculation simply because her mother has not been allowed to attend this public event to watch her daughter play ball.
This was also something that Crandell was supposed to fix. The Caseworker Katie Bice called Samantha and said that she had spoken to her superivisor Mary Mahoney and they were going to set up supervised visits at the ballfield, but she wouldn’t give Samantha the schedule, it is a public place Samantha doesn’t need supervised visits. Donna Webb, the foster care provider just doesn’t want her there.
So all we have is the caseworker Katie Bice’s word for it.
Second the baby who is five years old Carly now also has a broken arm. Again, this was alledegly due to her falling wrong as she jumped on a jumping pillow. According to Katie Bice, there is a video, but of course Samantha has not seen it nor has she been give the opprotunity to view it.
The problem here is this. Had the girls been with their mother and something of this nature happened, she would have immediatly been visited by the “very caring” caseworkers because someone at school- or other place ie doctor’s office called and said that the children had been abused. Has there been an investigation? I have no clue. Neither does Samantha. She called her Public Defender Crandell Heard several times and has not heard from him. I emailed his boss Donna Seagraves and her is her answer, “I have communicated with Mr. Heard, and I am satisfied that he is doing everything he should be doing for your daughter. As I said, we cannot talk about the case with you. You can, however, talk to your daughter about the case. She is completely aware of everything that is going on, and she is free to share with you as much or as little information as she chooses. If you have further concerns, you can explore other avenues, including retaining your own attorney and asking for placement of the children with you (which I understand you decline to do). But there is nothing else we can do to address your personal concerns.”
I received it today April 22,2010 at 12:17pm. Bear in mind this is the same office that represented the mother of Jessica Scovill whose child was murdered at the hands of her foster care provider by leaving her in a hot car while she took a nap. She got probation.
Samantha cannot afford an attorney, I live 600 miles away and it would be ludicrious- not to mention stupid for me to take her children which she would never see. My husband is also disabled. There are other reasons why it is not feasable for me to take them.
Again, these people don’t know the entire story. They are paid to represent her, to do the best job in the world for her. However, at the first sign of being questioned they want to bail.
Crandell has never met with Samantha but one time and that was at the courthouse, how can one repesent a client who one never meets with? Phone calls and emails are nice, but please.
Why didn’t they ask for an investigation? The reason is simple this county is a small county, everyone knows every one. Donna Seagraves was a private attorney before she ran for public defender. She has been in that county for ever. Everyone knows everyones secrets and it is all about politics and not rocking the boat.
Meanwhile, there are two little girls who have been injured in foster care. Two little girls who need their mother- not some high priced baby sitter who doesn’t even have to claim her money on her taxes. Two little girls who would not have been injured if they had been with their mother.
It is all about the money and politics- it has nothing to do with the children.
